John Beard, DU's Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent, has been recognized with the 2019 Hatfield Award, presented by the Water Environment Federation (WEF).
The award is in recognition of the dedication, contribution and professionalism Mr. Beard has demonstrated to furthering the advancement of the wastewater field during his 27-year career. It was presented by Eileen O'Neill, Executive Director of the WEF, at the Alabama Water Environment & Alabama/Mississippi Section of the American Water Works Association's Joint Technical Conference held recently in Mobile, Alabama.
The Hatfield Award was established in honor of Dr. William D. Hatfield, Superintendent of the Decatur, Illinois Sanitary District, who was President of the Central States Sewage Works Association in 1944-45 and served as President of the Water Environment Federation in 1958-59.
WEF is a world-wide not-for-profit association that provides technical education and training for thousands of water quality professionals who clean water and return it safely to the environment. WEF members have proudly protected public health, served their local communities, and supported clean water worldwide since 1928.
Ray Hardin, DU General Manager, and Tom Cleveland, DU's Water Resources Manager, offered their congratulations on Mr. Beard's outstanding accomplishment.
